Location & How to Get There

Dan Shui Keng Scenic Tourism Area sits in the southern part of Huangpu District, Guangzhou, at No. 1111, Dan Shui Keng Road. It’s about a 20-kilometer drive from downtown Guangzhou, making it a quick escape into nature. The area is surrounded by major development zones like the Guangzhou Economic and Technological Development Zone, so you’ll pass modern industrial parks before reaching the lush greenery of Dan Shui Keng.

To get here, take the metro to Nangang Station (Line 13 or 16), then transfer to bus 324 or 397—both drop you right at the entrance. If you’re driving, punch “Dan Shui Keng” into your GPS; the roads are clear, and parking is free.

Natural Scenery: A Green Oasis

Spanning 1,200 acres, Dan Shui Keng feels like a hidden gem. Towering mountains, ancient banyan trees, and forests of century-old lychee trees dominate the landscape. Walk along the trails, and you’ll spot wildflowers blooming year-round, crystal-clear springs trickling down rocks, and strangely shaped stones that look like they’re straight out of a fairy tale.

One highlight is Tonggu Mountain, where you can hike to enjoy panoramic views. The air here is crisp, especially in the morning when the mist wraps around the peaks—perfect for photos! Don’t miss Dan Shui Lake, a calm spot for boat rides or picnics by the water.

Cultural & Historical Sites

Dan Shui Keng isn’t just about nature—it’s packed with history too. The Yang Si General Temple, dating back centuries, is a must-visit. Restored in 1995, this temple is now a protected cultural site in Guangzhou. Locals say it’s built on “copper drum stones” that ring like bells when tapped—give them a try!

Nearby, Fo Ji Ling (Buddha’s Footprint Hill) and Fo Ji Dong (Buddha’s Footprint Cave) are sacred spots with carvings and statues. Even if you’re not religious, the peaceful vibes and ancient art make these places worth exploring.

Activities & Facilities

The area is divided into six zones:

  1. Tonggu Mountain: Hiking, temples, and stone attractions.
  2. Leisure Resort: Cabins, lakeside cafes, and BBQ areas.
  3. Sports Center: Soccer fields, basketball courts, and a small gym.
  4. Commercial Zone: Souvenir shops and local snack stalls.
  5. Entertainment Area: Playgrounds and outdoor stages for events.

Families love the children’s playground, while adventurers can rent bikes to explore the winding paths. For food, try Guangdong-style dishes at the on-site restaurants—think roasted meats, fresh seafood, and sweet soups.
