Location & Accessibility
Presidential Palace-Taiping Lake sits in the heart of Nanjing’s Xuanwu District, nestled within the historic walls of the Presidential Palace (No. 292 Zhongshan Road). This serene lake is tucked on the west side of the palace complex, making it easy to visit while exploring the main attractions. The area is well-connected by public transport: take Metro Line 1 or 2 to Xinjiekou Station, then walk 10 minutes south. Buses 34, 31, or 202 drop you near the entrance. If driving, there’s a parking lot nearby, though weekends can get busy.
Natural Scenery: A Hidden Oasis
The highlight here is Taiping Lake, a tranquil oasit surrounded by willow trees and classical pavilions. Walk along the stone pathways lining the lake, and you’ll spot black swans gliding across the water—perfect for photo ops! In spring, cherry blossoms frame the lake, while autumn brings golden ginkgo leaves. The lake’s reflections change throughout the day: morning light casts a soft glow, and at sunset, the water turns gold. It’s a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle, especially when you sit by the bridge and listen to birdsong.
Cultural & Historical Vibes
As part of the Presidential Palace, this spot blends nature with history. The palace itself was the HQ for Sun Yat-sen’s government in the 1910s
