Location & Access
Meilin Mountain Park sits in the heart of Futian District, Shenzhen, just 200 meters west of Xiaomelin Second Street, near the Songde International building. This 210-hectare green oasis peaks at about 396 meters, offering panoramic views of Futian, Nanshan, and Longhua districts. The park cleverly connects three key areas: Meilin, Xiangmi Lake, and Taoyuan in the north, Tanglang Mountain Park in the west, and Meilin Park in the southeast.
How to Get There
Meilin Mountain Park has three entrances:
- Qiaoxiang Entrance: Near the Qiaoxiang Village pedestrian bridge (perfect for those coming from the metro).
- Meishan Entrance: By the Futian Agricultural Wholesale Market (great for food lovers who want a post-hike meal).
- Meiyuan Entrance: Inside the Meishanyuan neighborhood (ideal for a quiet start).
By metro: Take Line 9 to Xiaomelin Station, then walk 15 minutes. By bus: Routes 201, M312, or M447 drop you close to the park’s edges.
Natural Highlights
Meilin Mountain Park is a lush escape with trails that blend hiking paths and eco-friendly greenways. In March, the park explodes with kapok trees (木棉), their red blooms blazing like fire against the sky. From the summit, you’ll see skyscrapers, mountains, and even glimpses of the sea—a reminder that Shenzhen is both a megacity and a nature hub.
Cultural Touches
The park isn’t just about nature. It has 11 rest spots, including charming pavilions like Mingjian Pavilion, Qinxiang Pavilion, and Yicui Pavilion (great for photos or snacks). These spots blend traditional Chinese design with modern comfort, making them perfect for relaxation.
Practical Perks
Meilin Mountain Park is family-friendly:
- Shaded rest areas with benches and tables.
- Clear signage in English and Chinese (so no language stress).
- Interconnected trails that let you customize your hike length.
- Parking available near all entrances (though weekends get busy).
Adventure Experience
Hiking here feels like exploring a mini-version of Shenzhen’s soul. Start at Meishan Entrance, wind through forests, and climb to the top. Along the way, you’ll pass locals exercising, families picnicking, and maybe even monkeys (keep your distance!). At the summit, use the 360° viewpoint to spot landmarks like Shenzhen Golf Club or the distant Hong Kong border. Finish your trip by linking to Tanglang Mountain Park for a longer adventure or heading to Meilin Park for dinner.
Whether you’re a trail veteran or a casual walker, Meilin Mountain Park offers a slice of wild Shenzhen without leaving the city. Come for the kapok blooms, stay for the views—and don’t forget your camera!
