Location & Transportation
Chongqing Yunyang Longgang National Geopark - Cloud Bridge is nestled in the mountainous area of Yunyang County, about 300 kilometers southeast of central Chongqing. To get here, you can take a 4-hour drive from Chongqing’s main city or hop on a bus from Chongqing’s long-distance bus station. The nearest airport is in Wanzhou (about an hour’s drive away), and trains to Yunyang Station are also an option. Once in Yunyang, local taxis or tourist shuttles will take you straight to the Cloud Bridge entrance.
Natural Wonders: The Cloud Bridge & Dragon Gang
The heart of the park is the Cloud Bridge, a jaw-dropping glass-bottomed skywalk suspended 520 meters above a massive limestone pit called Dragon Gang (Longgang). This pit is one of the deepest in the world, shaped like a giant cylinder, with sheer cliffs dropping into mist-covered depths. Walking across the Cloud Bridge feels like stepping into the clouds—especially on foggy days when the view blurs into an otherworldly scene. Daring travelers lean over the glass floor to peek down, while others snap photos against backdrops of swirling mist and emerald peaks.
Hiking & Scenery
Beyond the bridge, trails wind through forests and offer panoramic viewpoints. The Ghost City trail leads to ancient caves and rock formations, while the Suspended Corridor clings to the cliffside, offering bird’s-eye views of the gorge. In spring, wildflowers blanket the hills, and autumn paints the leaves in fiery reds and oranges. For photography lovers, sunrise and sunset at the Cloud Bridge turn the sky and glass walkway into a golden canvas.
Cultural Highlights: Tujia Heritage
The region is home to the Tujia people, a minority group with rich traditions. Near the park, you’ll find Tujia villages with thatched-roof houses and handcrafted textiles. Local guides share stories about the Dragon Gang legend—said to be the footprint of a dragon—and host traditional dance performances. Don’t miss trying Tujia sour fish, a local delicacy made with river fish and fermented spices.
Practical Tips: Amenities & Safety
The park is well-equipped with visitor centers, clean restrooms, and snack stands. Sturdy railings and anti-slip mats on the Cloud Bridge ensure safety, though those with a fear of heights might need a breather midway. Tickets include access to multiple attractions, and English-speaking guides are available for hire. For adrenaline junkies, night-time visits (during festivals) light up the bridge with colorful LEDs, creating a surreal experience.
Why Visit?
The Cloud Bridge isn’t just a viewpoint—it’s an immersive adventure. Whether you’re gazing into the depths of Dragon Gang, snapping viral photos on the glass walkway, or exploring cliffside trails, this blend of nature, culture, and thrills makes it a must-visit in Chongqing.
