Location & How to Get There
Ancestral Master Hall sits nestled inside the Front Section of Qingcheng Mountain, near Dujiangyan City in Sichuan Province. To reach it, you’ll first need to get to Qingcheng Mountain, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its Taoist heritage. From Chengdu, take a high-speed train to Dujiangyan Station (about 30 minutes), then a taxi or bus to Qingcheng Mountain’s front entrance. From there, it’s a hike—prepare for a steep, winding path!
Natural Scenery: A Wild Journey
The trail to Ancestral Master Hall is no easy feat. After the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, parts of the path were badly damaged, leaving you with a narrow, rocky road that clings to the mountainside. The hike takes about 30 minutes one way (or longer if you pause to catch your breath!). Along the way, you’ll pass Xuanyuan Peak towering behind the hall and Baiyun Creek whispering below—a dramatic backdrop of mist-covered cliffs and dense forests. Bring water and snacks; there are few rest spots along the way.
